I’m Dr. Teresa Roster. I began practicing Veterinary Medicine in 1993, after graduating from Kansas State University, Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This had been my dream for as long as I could remember. I was finally practicing medicine on live animals after subjecting my stuffed animals to the practice since I was about 9! I was so excited to be doing surgery: A chance to cut is a chance to cure! My career made a huge change in 2000. I had the best dog in the world and I was unable to control his pain. I “knew” about acupuncture but thought is was completely a hoax. But my dog was suffering and I was desperate. I found a Veterinary Acupuncture text book and some proper needles and made a plan for Beamer. My husband was understandably worried (about the Beamer!)! The next day, my poor, old, arthritic dog was RUNNING around and our 2 younger dogs didn’t have a chance to keep up with him. WOW! I enrolled in the Colorado State Acupuncture course for Veterinarians. And an entire new world opened up for me and best of all: My patients. Since this time, I have also become certified in Equine Manual Manipulation from the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. Now, my passion for medicine continues through an Integrative approach to practice. I am so grateful for all the tools that are available to me: Conventional Western Medicine, Acupuncture, Chiropractic and manual manipulations, Chinese Herbs, Osteopathic adjustments and using food as medicine. As a result, I’ve created a practice that can go beyond the scope of the general practice where I started out all those years ago.
